“I’m going to ask you to start by simply making yourself comfortable and closing your eyes.
If you notice any spots in your body where you are carrying the tension of the day,
make the decision to let go of that tension.
You want to allow all the muscles in your body to become more relaxed.
Notice that your breathing has become a little bit slower already, and that is good.
Take a deep breath.
Breathe in… and exhale.
Deep slow breaths.
Very good.
Notice that without effort, simply by slowing down your breathing, my voice is causing the sound around you to disappear.
My voice will take you on a journey through time.”

We are happy to announce the third exhibition of THE VOICE AS AN OBJECT, CONSCIOUS COLLECTIVE, a collaboration by Maarten Davidse and Julia Geerlings.
Join the CONSCIOUS COLLECTIVE by contributing to the Hypnotic memory-archive. Through mixing memories we seek unexpected moments of meaning and inspiration.

The term Collective Consciousness was introduced by the French sociologist Émile Durkheim in 1893 and is seen as a set of shared beliefs, ideas and moral attitudes, which operate as a unifying force within society.

The project-based work by Maarten Davidse (1987) is a result of having conversations and sharing thoughts with others. He investigates the notions of memory and time in his work, which often has a strong social and collaborative element. Davidse and Julia Geerlings (1985) share a same interest in developing projects through collaborating, communicating and sharing.

***You can do this by visiting and listening to the hypnotic induction before typing down your own stream of consciousness.
